Plumbing — commercial service, 16 technicians
A subcontractor portal that killed the $300/month seat problem.
Redline kept Housecall Pro for their techs but built a LyonHawk Digital dispatch portal for crane operators, backflow inspectors, and third-party specialists — confirm, execute, and sign off without another SaaS login.

- saved on specialist seat licenses
- $3.6k/yr
- subcontractor jobs with a digital audit trail
- 100%
- office time recovered on coordination calls
- 2 hrs/wk
Starting state
Rooftop unit replacements needed a crane operator; backflow tests needed a certified inspector. Redline either bought short-term Housecall Pro seats at $300/month each or ran the coordination through text and email. Site details got lost, confirmations were verbal, and there was no audit trail when a inspector no-showed.
Constraints
- Specialists needed a portal, not an app install — many are one-job vendors on older phones.
- Dispatch had to link back to the parent job in Housecall Pro.
- Backflow inspection results needed to attach to the job record automatically.
Approach
We built a mobile-friendly portal where Redline's office assigns a subcontractor job with one link — no account required for first use, optional login for repeat vendors. Specialists confirm availability, view site details and photos, upload completion docs, and sign off. Results sync to the Housecall Pro job via API.
What shipped
- One-link job assignment — site address, scope, photos, and contact
- Confirm / decline flow with calendar hold
- Completion upload — photos, inspection PDFs, digital sign-off
- Automatic attachment sync to the parent job in Housecall Pro
What we’d do differently
Repeat vendors asked for a 'my jobs' view after month one — we added optional accounts without requiring them. Flexibility for one-job specialists mattered more than we expected.
